Eat rest of the little states. I had luck that Spain was in the war with Aragon, and Portugal was fighting Morocco. I took a chance and vassalized Granada. Took their claim to declare on Castillle while they were getting demolished by Aragon, and took 3 provinces. Declared on Portugal that broke alliance since they didn't join war because they were losing against Morocco.

I proceed with removing Cadtille and Portugal, and made a mistake that I allowed Aragon to get big, and ally France. Luckily, France declared on Lorraine and got into war against half of the HRE. Declared on Aragon, and occupied everything, while they weren't even close to their land in Iberia. Everythin after that was routine cleanup, while managing AE, since you get a lot of it. Morocco and Mameluks were done in the meantime. However, I ddn't want to expand further.
I took whole Africa west Africa in three wars to get Songhai as powerful march, and to actually manage to start Golden age. Ideas were Offensive, Economic, Defensive, Diplomatic, Admin, Espionage, Aristocratitic and Maritime. Personally I do it by annexing granada before castile.From then, annex Sardinia or the baleares in order to get closer to France and ally them. This should be enough to keep castile at bay with help from the ottomans and grab land everytime they try to attack you.After that It's just a matter of building your power base and being opportunistic.Also a small tip, always use a casual belli to invade the Canarias (or Malta if the Iberian wedding happened) as it will grant you a ticking war score.
