Article Number: 261 Last Updated: Wed, Sep 5, 2012 7:44 PMIn order for Netop Pack’n Deploy to successfully deploy the Student to a Windows 7 computer the following considerations need to be made for the target computers. Computer must be powered on and connected to the network. Use credentials that have administrator rights on the target machine. User Account Control (U.A.C.) must be set to 'Never notify'.
File and Printer sharing must be turned on in Windows. Windows Firewall must not be set to 'Block all incoming connections.'
Windows 7’s default configuration will have U.A.C. Turned on and File and Printer Sharing off. This will prevent Netop Pack’n Deploy from successfully deploying the Host. Pack’n Deploy will not circumvent your organization’s security policies. Most users address these issues using Windows Group Policy. In fact, many customers who need to deploy on a large scale choose to use Windows Group Policy or some other 3rd party deployment tool to address these concerns and deploy the Host MSI with the corresponding MST file without using the deployment side of Pack’n Deploy. In may also be possible for other 3rd party internet security, software firewall or antivirus programs to interfere with a successful deployment when using Netop Pack’n Deploy.
Be certain that you have configured any 3rd party security software to allow for these exceptions. For a list of common error codes and messages that result from an unsuccessful deployment please review the following KB article.
