I have just got a calculator after relying on computers only for 20 or 25 years. On the Casio fx-82AU PLUS II, you can store values into named memory registers (A, B, C, D, E, F, X, and Y). Once a value's in there, you can retrieve it by either just typing the letter (pressing the ALPHA button and then the key marked with the letter) or else you can press the RCL button and the key marked with the letter, to 'recall' the value. Is there any difference between these two methods? I don't understand why the ALPHA key and the RCL key are both needed. Am I missing something?.
